How to cut conveyor belts

Using Utility knife (Fabric)

    • Mark a straight cut line using chalk.
    • Clamp belt securely to prevent movement.
    • Use a sharp, heavy-duty utility blade.
    • Make multiple shallow passes rather than forcing one deep cut.
    • Apply steady pressure and keep the blade angled slightly forward.

Using Circular Saw (Fabric or Steel Cable)

  • Use a carbide-tipped blade.
  • Secure belt firmly.
  • Cut slowly to avoid overheating.
  • Spray light water mist to reduce dust and heat (if safe to do so).

Using Demolition Saw (Fabric or Steel Cable)

  • Use an abrasive or diamond blade rated for rubber/metal.
  • Clamp belt tightly.
  • Expect sparks if steel reinforcement is present.
  • Cut in controlled sections.

Using Conveyor belt cutter (Fabric or Steel Cable)

  • Designed specifically for belt material.
  • Provides straight, uniform cuts.
  • Reduces physical strain.
  • Safer and more consistent for repetitive cuts.

Using Water Jet (Fabric or Steel Cable)

  • No heat distortion.
  • Clean edges.
  • Handles rubber + steel reinforcement easily
