How to cut conveyor belts
Using Utility knife (Fabric)
-
- Mark a straight cut line using chalk.
- Clamp belt securely to prevent movement.
- Use a sharp, heavy-duty utility blade.
- Make multiple shallow passes rather than forcing one deep cut.
- Apply steady pressure and keep the blade angled slightly forward.

Using Circular Saw (Fabric or Steel Cable)
- Use a carbide-tipped blade.
- Secure belt firmly.
- Cut slowly to avoid overheating.
- Spray light water mist to reduce dust and heat (if safe to do so).

Using Demolition Saw (Fabric or Steel Cable)
- Use an abrasive or diamond blade rated for rubber/metal.
- Clamp belt tightly.
- Expect sparks if steel reinforcement is present.
- Cut in controlled sections.

Using Conveyor belt cutter (Fabric or Steel Cable)
- Designed specifically for belt material.
- Provides straight, uniform cuts.
- Reduces physical strain.
- Safer and more consistent for repetitive cuts.

Using Water Jet (Fabric or Steel Cable)
- No heat distortion.
- Clean edges.
- Handles rubber + steel reinforcement easily
